Cargo bikes are eco-friendly means of transportation that use electricity as power. It is considered a suitable means of transportation for short-distance last-mile delivery.
Hanjin is a large company in the delivery industry in Korea.
Hanjin began the pilot operation on the 23rd of February by putting a cargo bike and a dedicated courier in the Helio City apartment complex in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
Cargo bike delivery is a method in which when a Hanjin courier vehicle arrives at a specific place (cargo bike parking lot) in an apartment complex, a courier driver moves the parcel from the vehicle to the cargo bike and then delivers it.
Cargo Bike was produced by ECCOV, which was established as an in-house venture of Hyundai Motor Company. The cargo bike can load up to 130 kg on its three wheels. A four-hour charge can drive 63 km.
An official from Hanjin said, "For this pilot operation, we have completed the operation safety test on two cargo bikes." "We will create new opportunities in the parcel delivery market through eco-friendly mobility such as cargo bikes," he said.
